THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a Director of Product Marketing to own how the market understands us. This leader will turn our platform strategy a modern, AI-forward, unified experience spanning four platforms into a market story that wins, and enablement that makes it easy for Sales and Customer Success to close and retain that win.

The Director of Product Marketing will be the single accountable leader for product positioning and go-to-market execution across our portfolio. They will report to the CPO, joining a marketing leadership team mid-transformation, with real authority to shape how the company shows up against the rest of the category.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

Positioning & Messaging

  • Build differentiated, provider-centric positioning and messaging frameworks that clearly separate us from our competitors.
  • Own product narrative and naming across the portfolio, keeping messaging coherent as products converge into a unified platform.
  • Translate platform and AI roadmap decisions into market-facing stories that resonate with Early Childhood Education providers.

Go-to-Market Execution

  • Lead go-to-market strategy and launch plans for new features, products, and platform milestones, driving adoption, retention, and revenue growth.
  • Partner with Demand Generation and Sales to align campaigns, content, and enablement with product priorities.
  • Establish a launch scorecard: each major go-to-market motion defines what metric moves, by how much, and by when.

Market & Competitive Intelligence

  • Run ongoing competitive and market research - win/loss interviews, customer research, category trend tracking - on Brightwheel, Playground, and other ECE and adjacent SaaS entrants.
  • Convert market insight into recommendations that Product, Sales, and executive leadership can act on.

Sales & Field Enablement

  • Equip Sales and Customer Success with battlecards, competitive playbooks, and training to win competitive deals.
  • Keep the field current as the competitive landscape shifts, including rapid-response guidance during competitor launches.

Team Leadership and Culture

  • Hire, coach, and lead a high-performing product marketing team as it scales.
  • Foster a culture of customer empathy, rigor, and speed.

Cross-Functional and Organizational Influence

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success to align go-to-market execution with the platform roadmap.
  • Represent the voice of the market in product planning and executive reviews.

WHO YOU ARE

You have led product marketing at a SaaS company, ideally in vertical software or a market with an entrenched incumbent and well-funded challengers. You know how to turn a crowded, noisy market into a clear story that Sales can sell and customers can repeat. You are equally comfortable presenting positioning to your CMO and running a win/loss call with a child care center director.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years in product marketing, including experience in B2B SaaS serving SMB customers.
  • 3+ years leading or managing a product marketing team.
  • Experience launching multi-product or platform-level positioning (vs. single-product).
  • Demonstrated track record of driving adoption, retention, and revenue growth through go-to-market strategy.
  • Strong command of competitive positioning, messaging frameworks, and sales enablement.
  • Proven cross-functional partnership with Product, Sales, and Marketing leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator, able to make complex products simple and compelling.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in childcare, education technology, or another regulated, relationship-driven vertical SaaS market.
  • Experience competing directly against well-funded challengers in a category with an established incumbent.
  • MBA or equivalent experience.

LOCATION

Remote with travel of approximately 10-15% expected for team meetings, customer engagements, and company events.
